Splendid Communications and Kingdom Collective announce partnership to drive mutual growth

24th November 2021

Splendid Communications announces a new partnership with creative communications agency, Kingdom Collective. The deal marks the first step in an expansion plan for Splendid, which was set in motion earlier this year with the hire of a new Chief Financial Officer, Damon Kelly.

As part of the move, Kingdom Collective will become a founding member of the newly formed ‘Splendid Collective’; a network of like-minded agencies with a shared vision to produce the most meaningful and effective creative work.

Splendid will acquire a majority stake in Kingdom Collective, whose culture-led philosophy has delivered ground-breaking work for clients like Dr. Martens, Pioneer DJ, Red Bull and YouTube. Recent wins include the role to oversee Hennessy’s culture programme and the launch of innovative music education start-up, Virtuoso. Kingdom Collective’s client work sits alongside the management of its own cultural platforms, such as Beat Hotel: originally a beloved stage at Glastonbury and now an international festival brand, which has produced events in Marrakech and Ibiza.

Through the partnership, Splendid Collective will gain a specialist capability in youth culture across music, fashion, the arts, and lifestyle, augmenting its work with iconic consumer brands. Kingdom Collective will benefit from the management experience, organisational support and investment that will accelerate its growth. The two agencies will continue to work for their own clients and will collaborate on new projects when the opportunity arises.

Splendid Communications CEO, Alec Samways, will join the Kingdom Collective board of directors and will help plan and support its future growth.

Samways says: “The vision behind Splendid Collective is to invest in well-run, ambitious and values-led independent agencies. We want to supply the management and funds necessary for them to grow, while addressing the many issues and challenges our industry and communities face. Our goal is to achieve creative freedom to produce work which we believe will have a positive impact on the world. Damon Kelly has joined to support me in finding partners who share our values and ambitions. We’re delighted to have Kingdom Collective join us for this journey and hope there will be others who follow.”

Kingdom Collective will continue to be led by founder Nick Griffiths, supported by second-in-command Emma La Terriere who has been with the business for six years. Dani Thornton completes the Kingdom Collective senior management team, as Client Strategy Director.

Griffiths says: “The partnership is extremely exciting for us and we’re looking forward to gaining the added commercial clout and future focus that being a part of Splendid Collective will bring. This will allow us to accelerate our own growth and continue to do the work that we love.”

Splendid Communications continues its search for partnership opportunities, looking for agencies that are experts in their field and who can add depth and breadth to Splendid Collective capabilities. The hope is that these businesses are led by management teams who bring their own skill and energy to the existing Collective leadership.

The deal follows a strong start to 2021 for Splendid Communications, with new client wins including progressive finance brand Laybuy, food waste fighting produce delivery service, Oddbox, reigning International Spirits Challenge Gin Producer of the Year, Quintessential Brands Group and, most recently, number one super-premium beer brand, Peroni.

About Splendid Communications

It used to be that a loud voice and a decent ad spend was all you needed to get your message across. In today’s fragmented world, to project a consistent message we need brand stories strong enough to remain intact wherever they are told and shared. At Splendid we call our approach People-First Creativity. From our strategic thinking to the way we generate ideas and work with our clients, our starting point is real people living real lives in the real world. We’ll challenge you and urge you to keep it real. We’re here to deliver creative work that lives beyond the industry bubble. We love what we do. We’re Splendid.

About Kingdom Collective

At Kingdom Collective, we help brands we love to tell their story through meaningful connections with culture. With a core team based in London, our worldwide network of consultants, collaborators and creatives keeps us at the forefront of emerging culture and communication.

We’re driven by creating and sharing things we genuinely believe in; experiences that stay with you long after they’ve finished, content that compels, stories you don’t forget. In doing so, we help brands cut through the noise to build credible and lasting cultural equity. None of this counts unless someone’s listening, so we’re also the communications people who make sure it all gets noticed.
