7th March 2019

After a competitive pitch, we are delighted to have been selected to work with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) on a new website design and build project.

What is CEDR?

Established in 1989, CEDR is an independent non-profit organisation and a registered charity with a vision that ‘better conflicts, result in better outcomes, leading to a better world’. Its mission is to provide society with skills and solutions for effective dialogue and to bring about sustainable change.

The original disruptor in commercial dispute resolution, all of CEDR’s work is underpinned by its values of humanity, independence, tenacity and transformation. CEDR are the largest alternative dispute resolution organisation in Europe; in 2018 it dealt with over 18,000 disputes, covering around £2billion in dispute value.

Who does CEDR need to communicate with online?

CEDR primarily works with commercial audiences including dispute resolution lawyers, in-house counsel, professional support lawyers and skills audiences such as HR professionals, learning and development organisations, the public sector and international development organisations. CEDR also supports regulators, journalists, traders and businesses.

There are four distinctive parts to the business: Training, Commercial Dispute Resolution, Consumer Dispute Resolution and Foundation, all of which the new website must reflect and cater for.

What are the goals?

We are partnering with CEDR to enable the buyer journey online. Alongside a new design, the website also needs to provide the organisation’s many audiences with relevant information in as few clicks as possible, via intuitive site architecture and navigation.

Currently there is evidence that audiences are getting lost in the site as the navigation is not as strong as it should be. The new site seeks to establish a structured architecture to ensure usability is at the core of its operations.

Reflecting the industry position of CEDR

CEDR has a positive reputation in the industry as a leader the field of Alternative Dispute resolution (ADR). The new website seeks to provide a porthole into the work, ethos and workings of CEDR so that its online presence mirrors its industry presence.

The website will also need to work hard in providing new enquiry leads to CEDR, its courses and its services, so it can continue its mission to help support traders and consumers. CEDR wants its website and work to show - beyond doubt - that they are the best in their industry, based on the work it does.

The website needs to be the main tool for signposting CEDR’s audiences to the right areas of the business, whilst providing engaging content and higher conversion rates for enquiries and course bookings.

Any specifics?

We are helping CEDR scope out what measurable objectives the new website should encompass, but the organisation would like the site to be able to:

  • show how CEDR helps a cross-sector of people
  • explain to senior management teams why they should look to CEDR for their change processes
  • allow visitors to navigate to any content within 2-3 clicks
  • signposts ‘next steps’ clearly throughout
  • demonstrate how CEDR improves management skills
  • help increase conversion rates and the number of people it helps each year
  • make the entire enquiry or booking process extremely easy for the user

The new website also needs to be an informative platform that supports what CEDR are doing operationally; for example by addressed more enquiries and FAQs online and providing examples or case studies in an innovative way.

How we will help

Our strategy covers a variety of tactics to help CEDR achieve its goals, namely:

  • Analytics review and keyword research
  • Objective setting support
  • Influencer development, audience evaluation and persona creation
  • Sitemapping research and intuitive architecture creation
  • Technical reviews and specification projects
  • Web design and build with focus on key landing pages
  • Testing, quality assurance and deployment
  • Ongoing technical support

Next steps

The new site will provide an opportunity to practice what CEDR preaches. We look forward to helping position CEDR as the modern face of dispute resolution online and to help them meet their digital goals.

Our creative, technology and measurement teams are all very excited about the project. We’ll let you know what the website looks like as soon as it is launched!
