The Rated Wine Company was created by a team that had been in the business for many years, importing and selling wine face to face to customers. As a response to changing buying habits and technology, they wanted to create a new brand to focus on selling wines that were highly rated and well-reviewed on social media and popular wine apps like Vivino. In short, a TripAdvisor for wine; read the reviews, find a tipple that sounds delicious and order it to your door. You had us at merlot!

The brief for this project was to create a strong brand identity that would be recognisable and flexible across multiple platforms. It was a brief that our designer Lewis immediately connected with. “It looked like a lot of fun and it was well-timed for me as I’d just started really getting into wine,” he says. “I started to research wine paraphernalia and classic vintage designs.”

Lewis really wanted to steer away from the clichés that he found flooding the wine market, as he describes: “It really needed to be boldly original but also retain a classy identity. As with all our clients you of course want them to really like the designs as they’re so passionate about their business. You’re being trusted with something that’s really important to them.”

Lewis and the team presented the Rated Wine Company with three options and they liked all of them which was a great result. However they had to bite the bullet and pick one.

“I was particularly pleased that they chose the route they did, as it was my personal favourite and has loads of potential to grow with the brand in the future.”
