“My advice to other women looking to get into tech would be the same advice irrespective of sector; know your worth, work really hard and let your results speak for themselves.” – Jenny Davies, CEO at M247

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re theming our blog this month around fantastic female talent in business. Specifically, we’re going to be sharing the experiences and achievements of some of the women in Skout’s diverse client base; looking at their individual business journeys and how we work with them to showcase their stories.

We’re kicking things off with Jenny Davies, CEO at leading global provider of cloud and connectivity services, M247. As a female CEO in the tech sector, Jenny is familiar with many of the challenges women face when building a career in the typically male-dominated industry. Not that it phases her, Jenny has held senior roles in a number of other traditionally male-dominated sectors throughout her career at United Utilities and BT, so she’s never known any different. Since becoming CEO at M247 almost two years ago, she has completed two transformational acquisitions and embarked on her aggressive five-year growth plan and goals for international expansion.

Alongside generating targeted media coverage and raising brand awareness for M247, we also spotted an opportunity to share Jenny’s story to help raise her profile and establish her as a thought leader on topics such as business growth and workforce diversity. We spoke  with Jenny to gather information that could be turned into great storylines for the tech, business and regional press. From the key themes and angles we identified, we have been able to pursue a number of different opportunities, including:

-Entry into the Northern Power Women Awards under the Transformation Leader category

-Guest article for We are the City – Building a successful career in a male-dominated industry

-Guest article for We are Tech Women – Securing our future: The upsurge of women in STEM careers

-Business Up North People of the North Q&A

-Prolific North’s ‘What I’ve Learnt’ feature

-Comms Dealer article and Q&A with Jenny as part of its ‘Just a minute with…’ series

-Contribution to Brother Spark’s diversity in IT feature

-North West Business Insider’s ‘Next Big Thing’ profile

Using Jenny’s experiences, insights and expertise, we were able to secure multiple platforms for her to share her knowledge and help, advise and inspire other women already in, or aspiring to, a career in STEM. In doing so, we also secured multiple pieces of quality coverage to build brand awareness for M247, and simultaneously, raise Jenny’s profile.
