MMT Digital Launches its New Agile Maturity Index

4th June 2020

MMT Digital is proud to announce the launch of its Agile Maturity Index (AMI), a unique framework and measurement tool to help organisations assess the maturity of their agile capability. Running on Workbench, the organisational insights platform developed by Temporall, the AMI empowers organisations to take their agile teams to the next level and maximise the benefits of digital transformation.

Organisations have been adopting agile ways of working for many years with varying levels of success and a limited ability to see where opportunities for improvement may exist. While the world is full of frameworks, methodologies and an endless array of KPIs that could be automatically monitored, there was a significant gap in the market for a tool to help organisations draw deep insights from their teams about the health of their agile transformation and how to improve it.

The AMI provides organisations – for the first time – access to a state-in-time as well as real-time continuous insights into the performance, capabilities and effectiveness of their engineering teams via pulse surveys, third party integrations and intelligent listening to Slack channels.

Based on decades of practical experience, research of multiple agile frameworks and collaboration with behavioural scientists, the Agile Maturity Index is built around five foundational pillars of an agile organisation:

- High performing teams

- Process & Governance

- Technology

- Organisational agility

- Culture of innovation

Firstly, we implement a survey across a client’s agile engineering teams to provide a valuable set of priority insights and actions based on the five pillars (macro attributes), each with a further three micro attributes. The platform will quickly highlight performance areas that require focus and areas of strength to be leveraged.

Deep insight is drawn from drilling down into specific attributes to get further analysis of the questions and the range of answers. Over time the trend analysis will show where improvements are being made as well as the areas that still need further attention.

As well as the quantitative data from the questions, qualitative data (including sentiment analysis) comes from comments that can be added to questions which are then analysed by Workbench’s AI engine. Uniquely, the platform supports:

- Identification of patterns by holistically looking across macro/micro attributes and analysing both sentiment and scores

- Discovery of the real drivers of innovation from the Organisational Network Analysis (ONA)

- Continuous improvement and best practice rollout across teams, offices, regions and countries to be measured via pulse surveys and benchmarking

- Drilling into specific questions to analyse focus areas and to draw further insights from the data, sentiment and detailed comments

- Validation of results and sentiment by overlaying unstructured, anonymised conversational analysis from Slack

Bringing all of this valuable quantitative and qualitative data and sentiment analysis from an organisation’s teams together powers our analysis, reporting and benchmarking with a focus on improving innovation, speed to market and efficacy of output to unlock opportunities and drive commercial success.

Each organisation receives a detailed report with documented, actionable insights clearly identifying areas for efficiency and effectiveness gains as well as a full report of the macro and micro scores in the five key measurement areas.

Our Co-Founder, James Cannings commented:

"Successfully delivering an agile transformation strategy is incredibly complex, but we help companies make sense of it. Delivering our Agile Maturity Index on Temporall’s Workbench platform has enabled us to bring an incredible product to market in a very short space of time. Workbench is a world-leading SaaS platform for ongoing insight creation, measurement and analysis of a company’s agile transformation. Any company that is serious about their digital transformation will benefit from the way it combines quantitative and qualitative data, AI-based sentiment analysis and an understanding of unstructured conversations within the organisation."

Thomas Davies, CEO and Founder, Temporall commented:

"A company's ability to successfully design and embed agile transformation has never been so critical. MMT Digital's Agile Maturity Index (AMI) does just that. From strategy to measurement, the AMI hits the mark. The combination of the AMI and Workbench provides clients a richness of insights not seen before. We are delighted that MMT has deployed the AMI on our platform as a Premium Partner."
