We've made the shortlist for the Cream Awards!

3rd November 2016

The Cream Awards, hosted by The Drum showcase the very best work from the creative industry for the Midlands, East, South West and Wales. Last year we received two nominations for the websites we built for Allergan and AXELOS and with the awards recognising creativity and design flair, this year we entered the project we completed for Weatherbys, which involved redesigning the online presence of a historic brand with a diverse service offering.

When the day came for the nominations to be revealed, we were keeping a keen eye on Twitter as the short lists were being announced. We were over the moon when the notification appeared to say that we'd been nominated in the Digital category for best website!

The project

Weatherbys were established in 1770 and they provide central administration services for British horseracing. Throughout their long history, the brand has grown across many diverse sectors including DNA testing and private banking.  With such a broad spectrum of services, there was a need to re-imagine the web estate and present their business diversity in a cohesive and unified manner under a ‘one Weatherbys brand’. All of this needed to be done while creating an outstanding user experience.

We worked collaboratively with Weatherbys to create the website and we spent a lot of time with them to understand their vision for the project, engaging several stakeholders from each of the company sectors to gather as much information and feedback as possible. From this we built a brand new information architecture and were able to establish the key user journeys that the site needed to satisfy. We then moved on to the creative concepts to determine how to bring the services together under one brand.

The new website features striking imagery and a clear navigation to allow users to easily distinguish between the diverse services and explore them further. Weatherbys now have a website that provides an outstanding user experience and successfully achieves the goal of creating brand consistency.

We are extremely proud of the work we have done on the Weatherbys site and through a successful collaboration with the client we were able to realise the vision they had for the website which allows them to effectively communicate their brand online. Check out the site we built for Weatherbys here.

To have the industry recognition of being nominated for a Cream award is a brilliant achievement for us and we’re looking forward to finding out the results! The awards ceremony takes place on the 16th November at The Jam House in Birmingham. You can view the full list of nominations here.
