What have London and Birmingham got in common?

1st December 2014

Both cities love our BACARDÍ website! Okay, this might be a bit of a sweeping statement but on the 12th November our BACARDÍ website was being celebrated in both cities. First up let’s explain what we were doing in London….

On the 12 and 13th November Econsultancy were hosting their annual showpiece marketing event; The Festival of Marketing. The event was held at the fabulous Tobacco Dock and it wasn’t just the marketing glitterati that were out in force. Pop stars, sporting heroes, TV personalities and other famous faces were scattered throughout the agenda over the two days. The show was opened by non-other than Sir Bradley Wiggins and he was interviewed by Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan (you’d know the face). Later in the day there was the curiosity of an interview with the pop star Tulisa who was discussing branding as was Professor Green with his talk that marked the conclusion of the first day. To round off the celebrity involvement, the Spin Doctor himself, aka Alastair Campbell, performed a talk about, well spin obviously!

However, the common consensus among the event’s attendees was that the real star of the show was not Wiggins or Pro Green, oh no, it was our very James Cannings! Our Co-Founder and CTO presented to a packed theatre hall about the global BACARDÍ website that we created using the CMS platform Kentico

James presented with Jon Gledstone who is the Creative Director at London creative agency Mr President with whom we worked in partnership to create the BACARDÍ website and the talk went down a storm. Now we’re not saying James and Jon were carried out of the hall on the audiences’ shoulders, Chariots of Fire (1981) style, but the applause was certainly substantial and the feedback that we received post presentation at the Kentico exhibition stand was very positive (this may have something to do with the free BACARDÍ miniatures Kentico were  giving away!). So that’s what we were up to in the nation’s capital but what about the capital of The Midlands? 4 of our hard working staff: Mark Starling (Client Solutions Director), Pete Angus (Senior Project Manager, Rich ‘Mitch’ Madigan (Project Manager and Kentico Consultant) and Tim Ramage (Developer) let their hair down for the night at the brilliant CREAM Midlands Awards held at The Jam House.

The CREAM Midlands Awards are ran by The Drum and celebrate the creative marketing and digital talent in the Midlands. The categories are incredibly tough as they are very broad which is why we were delighted to win Silver for our BACARDÍ website in the “Digital Media” category that included everything from TV commercials to apps and websites.

This is another highly respected industry award that we have won in 2014 and we are delighted to add it to our other awards and accreditations that we have already achieved this year:

2014 has been a great year and we hope to continue our good run in 2015!
