MCH London has used the following skills/services in the project.
Background
Power2Inspire is a charity founded by John Willis, who was born without fully formed limbs. The charity helps to create and run inclusive sport programmes that seeks to ensure nobody is left on the sidelines.
The Situation
As the COVID19 pandemic unfolded, Power2Inspire were unable to run their festivals or raise money through many of their usual channels.
Having been a cox at Cambridge, John had a passion for rowing and spotted an opportunity to fill the void left by the lack of live sport during lockdown.
The world’s first virtual boat race. Teams made up of both disabled and non-disabled rowers representing Oxford and Cambridge would take part in a virtual race that replicated the London course.
The Solution
The idea was just that, a concept. There was no content, no broadcaster, no awareness of the event.
mch.london acted as the full-service marketing agency for the event. Assembling a team of highly-skilled specialists to turn the concept into reality and raise money for Power2Inspire by tackling the following areas.
The Results
Despite having an initial target of raising £10,000 the mch.london virtual boat race generated in excess of £25,000 in donations.
These funds have meant the charity is now able to hire a Deputy CEO, continue to run its weekly virtual programmes and deliver 30 x ‘PowerHouseGames’ that will directly affect 2,250 children.
The event saw a great uptake with 505,000 views on the Give As You Live website. It was covered across a huge variety of media including in-depth interviews on BBC Radio5Live and BBC Local News. It also enjoyed write ups in The Times, Evening Standard, Metro and Time Out. BBC Sport website even reported the result as it came in!
All turned around in 4 weeks!
