Hydra Creative digital agency has chosen PACT (The parents association of children with tumours and leukaemia) as their charity of the year 2022.
Hydra will be planning and hosting events over the upcoming year to raise money for PACT and the amazing support that they provide to the families of children with cancer.
Both establishments are based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, meaning that events will be held within the local area as well as in true Hydra fashion, online.
As the Pandemic continues, almost two years on, Hydra Creative decided to support a local charity this year, all charities have struggled during this time with the lack of fundraising events but even more so smaller charities who may not be as well known. PACT stole the heart of the Hydra creative team with the support they provide to families, during what must be, the most difficult time of their lives.
PACT was founded in 1977 with a donation of £113 and eight parents who created a support group for children with cancer, they initially started raising funds to give the children a Christmas party and take them on a group day out. Since then, the charity has expanded, they now own and run a house right next to Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Parents can stay there during their child’s treatment and have ongoing support from individuals who have been through similar circumstances.
As well as the above, PACT provides practical support by purchasing equipment for the ward, schoolroom, and for the community nurses who take care of the children in their homes.
The charity also owns two caravans, one in Filey and the other in Berwick- on- Tweed where families can stay in between treatments, the facilities are a welcomed break for families, and they allow them to spend some quality time together.
Hydra Creatives director Ryan Daniels has said the following: “We are thrilled to have partnered with such an amazing charity – It means even more that the money we raise will be helping local families in their time of need, we look forward to hosting fundraisers in honour of PACT so that they can continue their wonderful work”
