Surprising animation and sinister SEO for an iconic Halloween event Following a full site redesign, we focused on celebrating Thorpe Park's annual Halloween event. For Fright Nights 2018, we designed and developed an animated site takeover, including a full-screen zombie surprise. The sinister site was engaging and constantly changing, encouraging users to return. We focused on increasing editorial management, via a component-based CMS, and improving user experience with an intuitive navigation, backed by user testing. We also redesigned the funding application process, featuring clear guidelines and an eligibility gateway. 167% increase in goal completion. Data science meets human interaction at sea To bolster the core NELSON data science team we created a front-end development toolkit and prototype based on detailed user research. The toolkit enables defence contractors to create standardised, highly usable interfaces targeted for unique cases including warship computers. We produced a prototype service, utilising the toolkit to meet users' needs within the aviation engineering department of the new Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers. An online training solution that crosses borders and language barriers We aimed to evaluate how BASF's user base currently learn about and resolve issues with BASF products. Through user surveys, telephone interviews, meeting face-to-face and speaking with technicians, we identified key personae along with their goals, frustrations and motivations. Mapping hundreds of user stories, we translated general goals into tangible digital features, pertinent answers and tailored functionality. 52 languages supported. We recognised a limitation in Drupal's translation functionality and championed an open-source approach to improve the technology for the better, for everyone.
