Hurtigruten is a Greenlight client across multiple digital channels including SEO, PPC and display. Its vision is to be the world leader in exploration travel with 11 cruise ships navigating to awe-inspiring destinations from the Arctic, Iceland and the Norwegian Archipelago down to the Chilean Fjords and Antarctica.
A survey by technology provider Performance Horizon found that "83% of travel brands are adopting performance-based campaigns with their marketing partners". Aware of the opportunity affiliate marketing offers in the travel sector and towards helping the brand to achieve its targets, Hurtigruten aims to work closely with us in order to benefit from this performance-driven channel in key markets including Germany, United Kingdom, USA & the Nordics.
Our performance goals for the programme include generating revenue through bookings, high quality customer enquiries using call tracking and to stoke early interest through brochure requests.
Unlike any other cruise brand on the market, Hurtigruten's Explorer Voyages offer unique, natural and active experiences through excursions and on-board activities. Granting travellers rare opportunities to get up close with nature, enjoy local cuisine and partake in 'bucket list' experiences such as seeing the Northern Lights, the Amazon rainforest or wild polar bears or penguins in their natural surroundings.
WHAT PUBLISHERS CAN EXPECT?
We're certain that Hurtigruten's distinctive take on cruise ship adventures will generate quality customers through content-rich publishers and comparison search engines, whilst our ability to work closely with Hurtigruten to provide exclusive deals, offers and vouchers will help us drive performance through incentivised publishers, particularly those with a strong travel audience.
The programme terms are extremely attractive to publishers. A default commission of 7% and an average basket value of over £1,500 means an average earning of £105 per sale. In the travel sector, standard commissions range from 1% for flights to 5% for hotels so we're excited to be able to negotiate a market-leading affiliate commission. At a later stage, we'll also be launching a call-based marketing element and a lead generation campaign to run concurrently.
Due to high average booking values associated with cruises, we've opted for an extended 60-day post click conversion window to allow affiliates to be remunerated fairly for their contribution after what's likely to be a longer decision-making process for customers.
After considering several technology solutions and networks, CJ by Conversant put forward the best service offering and commercial proposition, thanks to its established presence as well as good publisher reach in key markets for Hurtigruten.
