Box UK retains ISO 27001:2013 accreditation

Enterprise software development company Box UK has successfully passed the recertification process to retain its ISO 27001:2013 accreditation, after demonstrating its commitment to maintaining the highest information security management standards across its operations.

Providing requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS) encompassing people, processes and IT systems, ISO 27001:2013 is part of the ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards that help organisations keep information assets secure.

Box UK has held ISO 27001:2013 since 2017, and passed successful surveillance audits in 2018 and 2019 to retain accreditation. The organisation has now had its accreditation extended to 2023, after passing this first regular recertification assessment with no major non-conformities logged.

Robust security processes

Box UK’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) is regularly reviewed to ensure that it aligns with current good practice and reflects real-world work environments and processes. This includes responding to the need for increased remote working in response to the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen the organisation make support, training and equipment available for employees, review the business continuity and disaster recovery policies it has in place, and adjust processes where necessary to maintain secure data storage, data sharing and password management.

Security as a central value

Speaking in response to the announcement, Box UK’s Managing Director Benno Wasserstein said: “We’re very pleased that our security management processes have once again been certified as meeting the high standards demanded by ISO. The ISO 27001:2013 standard is held by technology leaders across the globe such as Google, Microsoft, Cisco Systems and Verizon, and provides our clients with confidence in the security and quality of our solutions. Achieving recertification to the accreditation is also a great validation of the work being done to continually monitor and improve our processes, and the dedication shown by the whole team to making security a central value in their day-to-day working.”
