About

"There's as much art and creativity in software engineering as there is science. Great user experience isn't just about visual design, it should be at the heart of technical decisions too."

As a developer-manager Matt has a deep understanding of technology, but also broad enthusiasm for other disciplines. He looks for this 'T-shape' in all our developers. It's all about understanding people and loving technology.

Matt began his career designing and developing management information systems for a global systems integration provider. He feels that there was no better way to learn technical skills that he's used throughout the last 10 years, but also learned the value of being able to take complex information and distil it into a snapshot that people could make sense of.

As Matt started to understand what he enjoyed, he saw the impact the web was having on distributed systems, and moved towards web-based solutions using Microsoft technologies.

Matt joined Mando Group in 2007, and within a short time led the company to Gold level within the Microsoft Partner Network.

He's addressed user groups on ASP.NET MVC and open source libraries, and presented Mando's project work to over 200 developers at Microsoft’s TechDays event.

His background in technical delivery has given him hands-on experience using SharePoint, RedDot, EPiServer and Umbraco as platforms, as well as bespoke web application and mobile development, so I'm used to providing real-world advice on technology choices.

As a head of the development department, Matt refines our ways of working to ensure high quality project delivery, and make sure our developers have the tools, training and support to deliver effectively.
